Magical Kenya,
From the bush to the beach

thursday 11 november – friday 19 NOVEMBER 2021

The southwest of Kenya, at the border with tanzania & the stunning Mount Kilimanjaro, is a magnificent decor for the safari lovers who would love to combine amazing wildlife encounters with a relaxing beach stay at the exotic Indian Ocean.

Day 1 – 11 November 2021: Karibu Kenya!

DAG 1_ Do 11 nov Karibu Kenya

The bush meets the city. You jump of your international flight and within 45 minutes you can actually go on safari. It’s the only place in the world where you can do this. The bush meets the city. Savour the thrill of camping in the heart of thick bushland right on the doorstep of Nairobi. The park is home to 4 of the Big 5. You enjoy a big lunch in the camp and can relax afterwards in your safari style tent. Enjoy an interesting bush shower, feel connected with nature & get to know your fellow travelers during an afternoon game drive in Nairobi National Park. We start our first evening with an apero around the camp fire & enjoy a warmly welcome dinner all together.

Day 2 – 12 November 2021: Amboseli National Park

DAG 2_ vrij 12 nov Amboseli NP

Today we are hitting the road to the famous symbol of Africa, Mount Kilimanjaro. We leave Nairobi & take the Mombasa Highway. We have plenty of time to take in local life on our road trip to Satao Elerai, a truly unique camp with the flavour & romance of real Africa. After check-in & a delicious lunch, we go explore Amboseli National Park & will spot an abundance of wildlife: water birds, buffalo, zebra, wildebeest, gazelle, Masai giraffe, lion and cheetah (hopefully). We end the day with a special sundowner & will listen to the sounds of Africa to retire for the night.

Day 3 – 13 November 2021: Amboseli National Park

Soul safari retreat Masai Village

After a good night sleep in your glam tent, we will start the day with a nice brekkie. Take a seat in our jeeps for a morning in the amazing Amboseli swamps with large herds of elephants, buffalos & birds. Capture your picture perfect with hundreds of ellies on the go for their morning drink passing by Mount Kili in the background. With full hearts we will arrive back in Satao Elerai for lunch. In the afternoon we bring a visit to the Elerai Masai community. A highlight of any East African safari is an authentic Masai experience. You will get to know their traditional way of living in balance with wild animals and their cattle. It’s an inspiring lesson in harmonious living. Cool down in the pool, rest & relax, and let the adventures of today sink in. Apero & dinner under the night sky filled with shining stars.

Day 4 – 14 November 2021: Tsavo West

SOUL SAFARI RETREAT TSAVO WEST

I guess you all feel connected now with the great Kenyan wild nature. Today we continue our soul safari to Severin Safari Camp in Tsavo West National Park. We travel to Tsavo West for the impressive views & are on the look out for the Big 5. Rocky outcrops, volcanic views, lava fields, springs, green bushes & hills. On clear days we can admire the lovely views of snow-capped Kilimanjaro. That are the ingredients of dramatic Tsavo West. You will discover the beauty on a game drive en-route. Upon arrival in Severin Camp, a very special lunch in a peaceful setting is arranged for us. After lunch it’s time to refresh ourselves and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the wilderness at the crystal clear pool. Then we drive to ‘Mzima Springs’. This is a green oasis at the heart of red-dusty Tsavo & is definitely a place not to be missed. We take a short nature trail leading to an underwater viewing tank built to watch hippos! A highlight on our retreat is the sunset at Poacher’s Lookout. You will enjoy a beautiful sunset while having a glass of bubbly and canapés. You will experience the romance of ‘Out of Africa’. On our way back to camp you will experience the savannah at night. After a delicious dinner it’s bed time. Sweet dreams of a day full of unforgettable experiences!

Day 5 – 15 November 2021: Tsavo East

SOUL SAFARI RETREAT TSAVO EAST

After a good night sleep, we enjoy a buffet breakfast at Severin Safari Camp. After loading our jeeps; we head to Tsavo East & enjoy game viewing en-route. Tsavo East feels wild and undiscovered. The vast open spaces are mesmerizing & the wildlife encounters are breathtaking. Think of ellies glow red after a dust bath. Around midday we will arrive at Satao Camp. The camp attracts thousands of animals for their daily drink and bathing at their watering hole. We have lunch, birds & impalas will keep us company. Then it’s siesta time in your spacious safari tent or on your private verandah. Uninterrupted views of herds of elephants, giraffes & zebras guaranteed. In the late afternoon we go & explore Tsavo East on a game drive. Our guides will take us to an amazing sundowner spot. The fire is lit, delicious bitings are served and the chilled sparkling wine or the famous ‘dawa’ cocktails are ready to taste. Enjoy golden hour, the magic glow on the bush. The day ends with dinner, lovely chats & a well deserved sleep.

Day 6 – 16 November 2021: Watamu

SOUL SAFARI RETREAT WATAMU TREE HOUSE

After a thrilling wild raw night with lots of roaring lions & trumpeting elephants, we enjoy our last safari morning in Satao Camp under the tamarind trees. Our guides will be ready to take us to our last destination of our retreat. We leave Tsavo East with a game drive en-route to Watamu. Our safari memories will last a lifetime. Watamu is called ‘the pearl of the Indian Ocean’ for its magnificent coastline. This tiny coastal town is a tropical paradise. We arrive for lunch in Watamu Treehouse. This unique & inspiring boutique hotel is a fairytale. The Treehouse effect is something magical. Fun adventures, the most beautiful environments, nourishing meals, different ways to relax and re-energize all within the embrace of  mother nature. After a healthy lunch, it’s ‘down-time’.  Relax to the max! Refresh yourself in the natural cool-pool, do an afternoon nap in your open air room & enjoy the nice sea breeze, find a chill spot & relax in a luxurious sofa bed, take a walk through the forest, discover the white sandy beach & be impressed with the shades of blue of the Indian Ocean. We enjoy the magic of sunset with a fruit smoothie & enjoy a light dinner. This is very welcome after the incredible delicious belly filling safari cuisine. The Treehouse rooms are open & spacious, have unique architecture; beauty & nature is everywhere you look. Good night, sleep tight!

Day 7 – 17 November 2021: Watamu

After breakfast we go for a snorkeling & dolphin watch boat trip (not guaranteed). We will experience the underwater marine life at the Watamu Marine Park home of the green turtles. We will enjoy the beautiful scenery of the ocean and its amazing colorful creatures. We will be back around lunch time. Have a healthy lunch & we enjoy some (solo) relax time. Read a good book, listen to some music, go for a swim or chat with your new friends. I promise you, a Soul Safari Retreat is sisterhood & will lead to life long friendships. In the late afternoon we grab some tuk tuks and let us drive to town. Here you can shop your African souvenirs to take home. Beautiful handmade (even personal customized) jewelry, colorful kikoys, art for on your wall, hand carved wooden animals, …Tonight we will have dinner at ‘Crab Shack’, run by Mida Creek Conservation Community. We take a walk on the wooden boardwalk and absorb the beautiful atmosphere of the mangrove forest and Mida Creek.  It’s the ideal place to sit & enjoy a seafood meal when watching the sun set over the creek. Tuk tuks bring us back to Watamu Treehouse for the night.

Day 8 – 18 November 2021: Watamu

DAG 8_ Watamu

A yoga class is available as well in a studio on the roof with 360 degree views of nature (extra cost of 1000 KES = +/- 8 EUR), Treehouse was built with yoga retreats in mind. Or spend some time with children at a local school. Reading books, doing yoga or making bracelets (extra taxi cost to the school divided by the participants). It’s a great time for walking at low tide on the sandbars and enjoy an ocean safari. Swim in some natural ocean pools and be impressed by all the tints of blue in the ocean. In the afternoon, after a flavorful lunch we will gaze at a spectacular sun & moon show, ‘Double Disc’. We enjoy the powers of nature from kayaks or from a SUP (standup paddle board). Challenging & fun! Soul filling, the sunset & moonrise at the same moment. We dine in the forest with the full moon as our companion.
